Flowing Hair Silver Dollars
America’s first silver dollars, minted in 1794 and 1795, featured a striking image of Liberty, her head tilted upward and her hair flowing behind her. Designed by Robert Scot, the U.S. Mint’s first Chief Engraver, this design was used for only two years before being replaced by the Draped Bust design in mid-1795.
Out of an original mintage of just over 160,000 coins, only around 10,000 are believed to have survived, the majority of which are dated 1795 and show signs of wear from circulation. This 2024 reissue offers collectors the rare opportunity to acquire this celebrated design in pristine condition.
