This coin is part of a five-year program running from 2021 to 2025, which explores the First Amendment’s five fundamental freedoms: freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition. The inscription on the coin reflects this commitment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
