Reverse: Depicts an eagle perched on a rocky crag against the backdrop of morning sun rays. The bird bears the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR.” Arching over the image are inscriptions of “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” with the coin’s name, “PEACE,” at the bottom. Antonio de Francisci, an Italian immigrant, sculpted this renowned numismatic masterpiece.
